RECEWAPEC has been working for old persons and disadvantaged elderly communities in Cameroon since 1996

The Regional Centre for the Welfare of Aging Persons in Cameroon as a non-governmental organization with headquarters at Bambui – Fonta road, Northwest, Cameroon works with and for the elderly persons, in partnership with other stakeholders at home and abroad.

  • We’re creating and expanding IGAs-Income Generating Activities (bee farming, pig farming, poultry, gardening, fish farming, mushroom cultivation and alot more) to improve on the livelihood of old persons and disadvantaged elderly communities.
  • We’re lobbying and advocating for the formulation and implementation of policies and rights in favor of old age people in Cameroon.
  • We’re advocating for appropriate health care schemes and adequate services to cater for old age people in Cameroon.
  • We’re offering training and workshop programs to community personnel and volunteers on aging issues and possibly resolutions.

We've set up an Eye Care Center in Bambui, Northwest, Cameroon with expert tools and eye specispecialist and hope to extend these services to other regions of Cameroon.

Through partnership with Seniorenhilfe Kamerun E.V. and other stakeholders, we were able to construct and equip an eye care center primarily for the elderly persons and  we consult and provide eye drugs and spectacles to old age people free of charge.

Our core values to what we do

Cooperation

We are participatory in our work approach, and we value every individual’s contribution towards the functionality of our organisation and possibly extensions

Benevolence

We exist for the purpose of sharing with the disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our communities, all that we can to help them improve on their livelihoods.

Integrity

We cherish truthfulness and transparency in our dealings with the communities that we serve, making sure they are served appropriately, with the fear of God.

Accountability

As stewards of public resources, we are determined to ensuring that we provide feedback on every penny received in the course of our work, as well as update the communities we serve on our work whenever we are called upon to do so.

Innovation

We are engaged in finding better ways to improve on our work in order to be resourceful to the communities we serve, as well as developing strategies that will enable us to stay at the forefront, in order to inspire positive societal change.

We’ve been working with and for old age people throughout Cameroon since 1996 as RECEHWEDEV and from 2001 as RECEWAPEC, helping aged persons, especially the poor and vulnerable to cope with crises and shocks, get favorable laws enacted to improve on their well being, invest in their productivity and health to living an active aging life.
